Item Description
1931 US The Choctaw, Oklahoma and Gulf Railroad (CO&G) Pay $25.00 in Gold Coin Coupon #- 5869. The Choctaw, Oklahoma and Gulf Railroad (CO&G) was an American railroad that operated in Arkansas and Oklahoma. The railroad was informally known as the "Choctaw Route". The CO&G's headquarters were in McAlester, Oklahoma. The CO&G began as the Choctaw Coal and Railway Company, which was taken over by the CO&G in 1894. The first stretch of rail laid by the CO&G was between McAlester and Oklahoma City, Oklahoma, and was finished by October 1895. In 1898, the CO&G bought the Memphis and Little Rock Railroad and completed the Little Rock-Indian Territory boundary line trackage. The CO&G also extended its Oklahoma lines to meet the Little Rock line. In 1902, the CO&G came under the control of the Chicago, Rock Island and Pacific Railroad (the "Rock Island"). The CO&G was formally merged into the Rock Island on January 1, 1948. Google AISeller Information
