Up for Auction. Priced to Sell. Condition is as Shown in Photos.Picture postcard cover depicting the General Von Steuben passenger ship. Mailed from Bremen to Berlin. Postmarked October 23, 1934. Great conditionDuring world war 2 the ship was pressed into naval service as a troop transport. While evacuating wounded soldiers and fleeing civilians from the Baltic ports in 1945 ahead of the advancing Russian army the ship was hit by two torpedoes fired by a Soviet submarine and promptly sank killing over 4,000 people and making it one of the deadliest ship wrecks in world history. Some 600 people were rescued.
