Up for auction is a beautiful censored cover from Vienna Germany written by Steffi Kunke a prisoner of the Gestapo in the German secret police prison in Vienna. Very rare item. Prisoners were generally not held in Gestapo prisons for long before being executed or shipped to concentration camps. Steffi kunke was a leader in the Revolutionary Socialist resistance movement and after the annexation of Austria by Germany was organizing to oppose it. While attempting to flee Germany she was arrested by the gestapo, the German secret police. This postcard was written to her mother Flora Jelinek while she was in the Gestapo jail.Kunke would later be moved to Ravensbruck, the concentration camp for women and later to Auschwitz where she died of Typhus in 1942.Exceptionally rare piece of postal history. Note the cover was mailed from the gestapo prison in Germany. The cover is handwritten. Priced to sell. Postmarked June 1938. Note I have another cover from Kunke's husband Hans I am listing at the same time as this one. They were arrested together.Cover is in excellent condition.
