1978 Canada Kaulbach Island 25 Cents Sailing Vessels Complete Set/4 MNH. Kaulbach Island – named after past owners of the island is peaceful, private and sheltered. The Island is part of the drumlin formations along the south coast of Nova Scotia. The 1978 issue features reproductions of oil paintings by Wiliam Perry. The sailing ships featured include Courageous, winner of the 1977 America's Cup, Nippon Maru, among the largest sailing ships afloat, HMS Rose, replica of a British vessel that fought in the US War of Independence, and Bluenose, Canada's legendary schooner. Printed in sheets of 36, this set of four stamps was made in four colour lithography and was line perforated (11.5). 12,500 sets were issued, with 1000 used on first day covers.
