INDIANA: 1984 $5 RAINBOW TROUT(INT-35) with DATE ERROR from IN TROUT & SALMON permit!!NICE STAMP, GOOD COLOR & GREAT IMPRESSION. perf Roulette ERROR reads: "Feb. 29, 1985" instead of "Feb 28, 1985". ONLY YEAR THIS EVER HAPPENED!!Since these licenses expire the following February of each year, the year previous (1983) was, in fact correct endingon the last day of February 1984, which was a leap year. So that stamp correctly read "void after Feb. 29, 1984". So,when the next years stamps (1984) were laid out at the printers the "copy" was copied from the previous year, onlychanging the year. Unfortunately, the last day of the following February was not a leap year. OOPS!And nobody caught it. Not in layout, not in proof reading, and not in printing. After the fact I'm sure no one wanted togo to the expense of fixing the mistake and reprinting. Keep in mind that the reverse side of each stamp were allnumbered sequentially (an expensive process). And I'll bet that no one, in that state's bureaucracy, or at the printer'swanted to accept responsibility and hence the cost to fix the problem. That's of course assuming that anyonenoticed the "error" at all before issuance.PLEASE: see scan for condition and orientation. Sold as is.
