Full mint sheet of 20 - 29 cent stamps issued in 1993 to honor the 50th Anniversary of World War II. The stamps show events from 1943 including: Destroyers (Allied forces battle German U-boats); Military medics treat the wounded; Amphibious landing craft on beach (Sicily attacked by Allied forces, July); B-24s hit Ploesti refineries, August; V-mail delivers letters from home; PT boat (Italy invaded by Allies, Sept.); Nos. WS7, WS8, savings bonds, (bonds and stamps help war effort); "Willie and Joe" keep spirits high; Banner in window (Gold Stars mark World War II losses); and Marines assault Tarawa, Nov. The Central label is the size of 15 stamps and shows world map, extent of axis control and the words "1943: Turning the Tide". The picture below shows one half of the full sheet. This sheet is as fresh as the day it was purchased from the post office 25+ years ago and is suitable for framing. If you're a stamp collector, it is Scott # 2765. .
