Few people know that the name of Bayraktar drone, beloved by all of us in recent weeks, lives a good oriental fairy tale of a thousand and one nights... A real Turkish fairy tale...
So: Selchuk Bayraktar was born on October 7, 1979. His father is Ozdemir Bayraktar, the founder and owner of the company "Baykar Makina", which is engaged in development in the aviation and space industry, manufactures robotics and control systems, as well as unmanned aerial vehicles.
Selchuk graduated from Istanbul Technical University in 2002 and holds master's degrees from the University of Pennsylvania and the Massachusetts Institute of Technology. He also holds a PhD from the Georgia Institute of Technology.
But Selchuk gained wide popularity in May 2016, taking part in joint military training exercises in Izmir, where the company "Baykar Makina" presented its new development: reconnaissance unmanned aerial vehicle "Bayraktar TB2". According to the decision of the Chief of the General Staff of the Turkish Armed Forces, Hulusi Akar, this UAV was adopted by the Turkish Army. Selchuk also has a pilot's license.
And so this fantastic guy dedicates his invention to his beloved girl and asks for her hand in marriage, and the name of this oriental princess is Sumeye Erdoğan, the youngest daughter of the President of Turkey Recep Erdoğan and his favorite.
... Selchuk Bayraktar plays a key role in the development and production of new unmanned aerial vehicles of his company, and his drones have become one of the symbols of Ukrainian resistance in the war against the Rashists.
