3 covers relating to Uss California. First two are 1930s covers with USS California postmarks; one with a hand colored but add-on cachet (signed as such on the back by Wentworth); the other from 1936 at San Francisco with nice oakland bay bridge cachet with blimp above. 3rd cover is cacheted for the ship, with remember pearl harbor pictorial postmark from brookenal VA. California, BB-44, was commissioned in 1921 and served until 1947, eventually scrapped in 1959. The ship was hit at Pearl Harbor, flooded and sank at its mooring, but was raised, repaired, and saw extensive service in the pacific, with an eventual 7 WWII battle stars awarded.Your satisfaction is guaranteed.
