This magic, in order to be translated to the artwork, became a palette of vibrant colors and extravagant shapes. Furthermore, the vertical composition of the artwork was chosen because it allowed a better distribution of the story's elements - the evil jack-in-the-box, the ballerina, the tin soldier, the fish and the boat - and their respective roles in the plot.
