Item Description

A used postage stamp from British North Borneo, issued by the British North Borneo Charter Company, which governed the territory as a protectorate from 1882 to 1946. The stamp has a face value of "FIVE CENTS" and features an image of a peacock.
The inscription "STATE OF NORTH BORNEO" is visible at the top of the stamp. The inscription "BRITISH PROTECTORATE" is also part of the design. After World War II, North Borneo became a crown colony of the United Kingdom, and later, in 1963, it was annexed to Malaysia and renamed Sabah (Mi # 102)
