AmeriCover - the annual convention of the American First Day Cover Society - was held in Irvine, CA in 2012 and the local So.Cal. chapter of the AFDCS, the Claude C. Ries Chapter, as hosts, went all out to make the convention a fun event!The Night Owl Party is held on the Saturday night of the convention as follow-up to the annual Cachetmakers' Bourse, which runs well into the evening and past the dinner hour
This cover was given to everyone who attended the late-night meal, and shows an Owl Chef uncovering a box lunch to the surprise of a pajama-clad owl. This was the host hotel's idea of a fancy feed for the event, and was not the usual bountiful buffet of sliders, pizza and other comfort foods!
The cover is franked with three singles from the 1978 Owl set and is cancelled with the Irvine round-dater cancel of August 11, 2012.
