Item Description
This illustrated World War II Patriotic cover was mailed from Amsterdam, New York to Wethersfield, Connecticut in 1944 franked by two 1-1/2-cent bister brown Martha Washington Presidential issues of 1938, Scott 805 (left stamp faulty). The stamps are tied to the envelope by a machine cancellation.The cachet, designed by George V. Sadworth, depicts falling bombs and reads: 'Our Air Warden / For Aid, Comfort, and Protection for All.'
Opened by lifting, the backflap is un-sealed and intact. No contents or backstamps. Machine cancel set off on backflap.
