From Scott Volume 1 Catalogue following the listing for Austria #404: Germany Nos. 524-527 (the 1M, 2M, 3M and 5M), overprinted with vertical bars and "Osterreich" similar to Austria 398-404, were prepared, not issued, but sold to collectors after the definitive Republic issue had been placed in use. Value for set: $150.00 Mint-Never-Hinged. Counterfeits of the overprints exist.

Due to the relatively low catalog value of this issue, this item has not been expertized.
