Item Description
In a nice nod to stamp collectors, the USPS issued a #10-size stamped envelope in 1989 designated on the face as 'PHILATELIC MAIL'. Hopefully this was an effort to signal carriers that the contents were precious and should receive exceptional care in processing! :o)This original art cachet - hand-drawn and -colored, shows Ben Franklin parading ahead of his dog, who he has trained to not only be "early to bed and early to rise", but to pull a mail wagon!
The cover is also franked with the 8¢ Stamp Collecting issue of 1972 for double concordance.
This is cover #1 of only 20 made (so designated) and is the last one in the artist's archive!
