Item Description

You are purchasing a unique black-omitted block of 10 of the Burundi 1964 14c hippopotamus airmail stamp, Scott C4. Only one sheet of 25 of these errors was ever discovered 40 years after its issue by Cambridge Essex Stamp Co. The discovery sheet was profiled in the March 1, 2004 issue of Linn's Stamp News (see scan). This is the largest surviving multiple of this error. A highly attractive showpiece, ex-Ellis. The block is cancelled to order with a few gum ridges and a gum indentation on the stamp in the 4th column, 2nd row. As can be seen in the scans, there are minor adhesive marks in three places at the top of the block.
