This New Zealand Registered First Day cover was franked by a 9d orange & olive Gold Mining & Gold Dredge Centennial issue, Scott 240, tied to the envelope by a January 2nd, 1940 'Centennial Exhibition' circular date stamp, and mailed to Chicago, Illinois.'Centennial Exhibition' Registry Label.
The cachet with Exhibition Logo depicts 'Captain Cook's Memorial, Ship's Cove, Queen Charlotte Sound, South Island, N.Z.'
Cut open left and hardly reduced, the backflap is sealed and intact. No contents. Two different, purple, double circle Chicago Registry Division backstamps.
Light horizontal or vertical lines in the images are scanner artifact !
