I recently purchased an estate lot that came from a family that lived in The Congo in the fifties and early sixties.  They had purchased mint stamps at the post office and they were still in the tropical packaging that the post office supplied to separate the stamps.  There were large quantities of some of the stamps as well as used on paper and some letters.  

There was also some documentation including permits to be in the area at the time.  

This was a very tumultuous time in the region after Congo received independence and many parties were fighting for control of the huge natural resources that the country holds.  

This is a limited release sheet from 1949 cancelled in Elisabethville in Katanga. All sheets were individually numbered. A rare piece of Congo history.

Sheet will be sent flat packed and postage costs reflect this. If you are happy to have it folded the cost will be less.
