Historically, the 15¢ Brown is very important, and occupies a unique place in Chinese philately. The last engraved stamp ever produced by Chung Hwa, it was never available at post offices in Nationalist (Pre occupation) China in an unsurcharged state. BUT, it went on sale briefly in Occupied Shanghai in 1943. Virtually the entire supply was utilized for Japanese Occupation of Central China Surcharges. Scott catalogue value as ingles is $262.00.
