Item Description
China. Postcard. The Summer Palace (Yiheyuan) in Beijing, China, which was the summer residence of the royal family of the Qing Dynasty. It is located on the western outskirts of Beijing, about 15 kilometers from the city center. It is known as a masterpiece of Chinese landscape garden design, combining natural landscapes with artificial elements such as pavilions, halls, temples and bridges. The palace includes Longevity Hill and Kunming Lake, which occupy most of its area. Among its landmarks are the Long Corridor, the Tower of the Aroma Buddha and the Hall of Benevolence and Longevity. Originally built in 1750 under the name "Garden of Pure Waves" (Qingyi Yuan), it was destroyed in 1860 and rebuilt in 1886. The Summer Palace is a UNESCO World Heritage Site and is considered the best-preserved imperial garden in China, often referred to as the "Museum of Imperial Gardens".Seller Information
