Item Description
Czechoslovakia 1919 Sc#B125 'Legionnaires' Block of 4 Mint never hinged (MNH). - CTORecords show that around 200.000 series were cancelled with the genuine commemorative cancel of which 60 to 70% were sold for the benefit of the Legionnaires Orphans Fund. The remainder of the series (about 3.5 million) were donated to the Legionnaires Orphans Fund for own use. Eventually these stamps were sold for a fraction of the nominal value to stamp dealers in the early 1930's and were cancelled for collector's purposes with a forged cancel.
