Item Description
This cover measures about 5¼ by 2¾ inches. The stamp is Scott number 219D. The circular date stamp is unclear, but this appears to be from Danville, Indiana, as were other letters from this era addressed to Julia Cox in Winchester. The postmark date is July 27, 1890, and the obliterator was a carved circular 8-segment design, with one segment missing or uninked. A clear and complete Winchester, Indiana, receiving postmark on the back has a July 28 date. The stamp perforations in both upper corners are damaged and the diagonal indentation across the envelop appears only on the front. It must have been caused by either contents or perhaps the binding of this cover with others over a long period of time.
The envelope was cut open at the left end. It contained one of several letters that Julia and her sister, Susannah, received and saved at Winchester, Indiana. The letters were all removed from the covers many years ago and archived at a research institution for Cox family genealogy research.

- Shipping Instructions
- About 3½ years ago, I stopped selling and shipping outside the US due to new postal rules and rapidly rising costs. The USPS is raising postal rates again in January 2019. Today, December 25, 2018, due to the continuing rise in the cost of postage and associated fees, I am reluctantly raising my general shipping fee for the first time in many years. My sales here at HipStamp involve no additional charge for the purchase of multiple stamps. Shipping is via USPS unless otherwise specified. Be sure to contact me before making your purchases if you have questions.
