This is a 1938 commemorative first day cover envelope celebrating the Delaware Tercentenary.Header text: "DELAWARE TERCENTENARY" appears in bold capital letters at the top left of the envelope.Central emblem: A circular green seal featuring "GREAT SEAL OF THE STATE OF DELAWARE" around the perimeter. The seal shows three figures (likely representing farmers or colonists) with a ship in the background, along with what appears to be a coat of arms. The dates "1792" and "1847" are visible on the seal.Commemorative text: Below the seal reads "THREE HUNDRED YEARS 1638 - 1938"Postmark: A circular postmark from Wilmington, Delaware, dated "JUN 27 1938" at "9-AM" with "FIRST DAY OF ISSUE" cancellation marks.Stamps: A block of four identical 3-cent pink/rose colored commemorative stamps arranged in a 2x2 grid. Each stamp depicts a historical colonial scene with figures and appears to reference "LANDING OF THE SWEDES AND FINNS" based on the visible text.Addressing: The envelope is addressed in cursive handwriting to "Mr Thomas Lowden, 2509-A-Street, Philadelphia, Pa." with what appears to be "834" written in the lower left corner. This cover commemorates the 300th anniversary of the 1638 Swedish and Finnish colonial settlement in what became Delaware.
