Item Description

This is the New Hampshire to Virginia folded letter/cover now available for sale. The cover is franked with a Scott #10 and postmarked "EAST LYMAN NH" lightly in a very faded green (possibly, but not added into value) with a manuscript "Aug 9" on a letter dated Aug. 8, 1851. The letter is a quality piece of personal mail, probably between family since it indicates having not heard from the recipient since March (1851).

This tidy little cover bares a very early usage of Scott #10 (not even six weeks in circulation), but does have a manuscript return notation of Samuel Haskins August 9th 1851 (looks like 1837). Please study the images for clarity, color, condition, cancellations, stamp, and postal markings.
