This cover commemorating the Texas Centennial and Fannin's Cannon was mailed from Fannin, Texas to Gonzales, Texas franked by a 3-cent purple Texas Centennial issue of 1936, Scott 776. The stamp is tied to the envelope by a 4-bar killer handstamp dated March 20th, 1936The cachet provides a historical perspective on Fannin's Cannon. Typed onto the cover: "Surrender of Fannin, Mar 20, 1836."
