Item Description
The beautiful sheet of 50 different Wildflowers was issued in a floral-arrangement-adorned room in the AmeriCover show hotel ballroom in Columbus, Ohio in 1992. It was just one event in the city-wide festival observing the Quadricentennial of Columbus -the-man 'discovering' the New World.One of those 50 flowers was the Harlequin Lupine, which adorns this FDC. The cachet is handcolored and shows a familiar scene that many of us have witnessed: four elves, one of them riding a bee, working together to paint a forest wildflower. the artwork was originally printed in black on a light salmon-hued envelope, and color was added with brush pens and colored pencils.
The single stamp from the sheet that franks this cover was hand-cancelled with the pictorial cancel only available at the main Columbus USPS distribution center celebrating Columbus '92 and the fact that the AFDCS was holding their annualconvention in town.
