Item Description

France, Scott #1519 (Y&T #1924), used(o), 1977, Large French Art Series, "Hommage à l'hexagone" one of a portfolio of eight screenprints in a 1969 work by Victor Vasarely (1906-1999), a Hungarian-French artist, who is widely accepted as the founder and leader of the Op art movement, 3 francs, green black and pale lilac, engraved, perforated: 12½x13; Scott 2019 catalog value: 75¢. Nicely centered, double strike cancels, both light, broken-up, black-inked, single-rimmed, circular socked-on-the-nose border cancellations on the lower left border and middle bottom border and both well clear of the main image, sound back, hinge remnant, good perforations; centering and image free cancellation warrants a selling price premium. This is not a 'bait-and-switch' offering. The stamp you see will be the one you receive.
