The provenance of his collection traces back to pre World War II with a significant part of his collection originating from the Ambassador J. William Middendorf II collection formed with the assistance of preeminent Dealers of his time. Much of his collection was sold by Robert A. Siegel Auction GalleriesTM over multiple sales from which some of this material originated. In 25+ years of selling United States stamps, this is one of the very best collections in terms or both quality and depth that we have seen. To give you an indication of how vast this collection is, from an internal planning perspective, we estimate that it will take us 8,000 to 11,000 man-hours to properly scan & describe every stamp in this exceptional collection.
