Item Description

This listing is for a single, used definitive stamps issued for use in the colony of German East Africa (Deutsch Ost Afrika) in 1906, and shows the standard image used on colonial German stamps in the early 20th century—namely the Kaiser’s Yacht “Hohenzollern.”    

The stamp is listed in Scott as #33, and has a face value of 7 1/2  heller.  This stamp is postally used, with a cancel applied at the town of Tabora, the capitol municipality of the province of the same name in north/central Tanzania.  This cancel is very clear and had a date of 28 September 1913. 

German East Africa was a colony of Imperial Germany from 1884 until Germany lost all her colonies as part of the peace settlement that ended World War I.  The former German colony was largely taken over as the "Tanganyika protectorate" and run by the United Kingdom until independence.  Following the union of Tanganyika with Zanzibar in 1964, the majority of the former colony is now the modern nation of Tanzania.  The remainder of the former German East Africa is territory now part of the nations of Burundi, Rwanda, and Mozambique.

Paypal, Money Orders, and Checks payable in the US are accepted. Credit cards accepted through paypal only. Checks must be drawn on a US bank, or I cannot cash them! (I can no longer accept Canadian Postal Money Orders, even those in US dollars-sorry!)

Return Policy:

US Bidders: 14 days from the 3rd day after the item is sent.

International: 14 days from the 7th day after the item is sent.
