The design by artist Rudolf Schiestl is a prime example of the Munich Jugendstil (Art Nouveau) style. It features an allegorical figure of Bavaria, "Bavaria," flanked by two craftsmen representing the trades. The blue and white lozenge pattern on Bavaria's dress is from the Bavarian coat of arms.
