Item Description

This German, Russian Officer Prisoner of War cover was mailed from Bergen, Germany to Russia via neutral Copenhagen, Denmark as free mail, imprinted: "Kriegsgefangenensendung" (POW Mail) and "An das Moskauer Hilfskomite fur Kriegsgefangene" (To the Moscow Aid Committee for Prisoners of War).

Also imprinted with Red Cross logo and a crossed hammer handstamp.

Markings:
1) Purple circular "Gefangenensendung" handstamp.
2) Purple triple circle "Offiziergefangenenlager Berxen...Kommandantur" with Eagle at center.
3) Purple straightline handstamp "Offiziergefangenenlager..."

Verso has a return address in pencil (Absender - 'From'), "Oberleutnant... Berden..."

The backflap is un-sealed and intact with full flap gum. No contents.
