Item Description
Gherman Stepanovich Titov (1935–2000) was a Soviet cosmonaut. This stamp commemorates his flight aboard Vostok 2 on August 6, 1961, when he became the second human to orbit the Earth and the first to spend more than a day in space. Titov’s mission took place less than four months after Yuri Gagarin’s groundbreaking first human spaceflight. He was also the first to take photographs from space and to manually pilot a spacecraft. To this day, Titov remains the youngest person ever to fly in Earth orbit, at the age of 25.Seller Information
