Item Description
Great Britain, Scott #601 (Stanley Gibbons #808), used(o), 1969, Celebrating the Technology Achievements of the National Post Office and the Transfer of Postal Responsibilities from the Government to the Post Office Corporation, stamp celebrates one technology achievement of the post office: the National Post Office Banking System, known as GIRO (from the Italian 'giro' meaning the circulation of money), a banking system initiated by the post office in 1968, and based on account transfers between two parties, each having an account in the system, with the accounts administratively handled by the post office, stamp shows the "G" symbol of the National GIRO, 5 pence, lithography printed, perforated: 13½x14, no watermark, two left and right bars phosphorus, colors: new blue, greenish blue, lavender, and black, Scott 2022 catalog value: 25¢. Nicely centered, light. half circular, double-rimmed socked-on-the-nose cancellation with partial mailing details over the bottom of the stamp and into the central image, sound back with hinge gum remnant, good perforations; listing reference: B.. This is not a 'bait-and-switch' offer. The stamp you see will be the stamp you receive. Please review my terms of sale. If you are not ordering from the United States, there is a $US1.40 additional postage expense that needs to be added to the price of the stamp. If you are ordering from the United States, there is only a $US0.60 added postage expense. Also, if you make additional purchases from my offerings, they can all go in one mailing at no extra shipping expense for the added purchases. I will send the purchase by US first class mail, since the relatively low value of the stamp does not warrant signature or tracking mail. Hence the buyer assumes risk of loss or non-delivery. I will keep a scan of my mailing to verify that the correct mailing address was used.
By way of reference, I am an American Philatelic Society (APS) member (195176) and an American Stamp Dealers' Association (ASDA) member. Thank you for looking, and I hope this is the perfect stamp to fill that gap in your collection.
