Item Description
Three Arctic mammals all dressed up in their winter fur coats are the subject of this handcolored cachet for Greenland's 1994 issue of three more stamps in its 'Indigenous Wildlife' series.This handcolored PUFFIN CACHETS FDC bears the three new singles, and two nice strikes of the Greenland Post's official pictorial First Day of Issue cancel strike in Tasiilaq, the 7th largest 'city' in Greenland, and headquarters of Greenland Post. The postmark (a bit gruesomely) depicts a purselet made from the skin of an ermine's head!
This cover is marked on the reverse as an 'Artist's Proof' and is one of only 6 covers sent to Tasiilaq for servicing.
