Roger jones, the missionary bureau in london, england. Long and interesting message from guatemala city dated august 5, 1898 reads, "dear bro, your last note reached me in due time. Please do not send me the illustrated missionary news out here as i will be leaving very soon now. I expect to land at southampton on october 15th or there about. You may also please ask the editor of that paper to tear up my ms (manuscript) re the philippines as it has been published already in the missionary review of the world, new york. Out here i know very little of what is coming but i keep praying and hoping: faith serves us admirably when thou in the dark. I am very far from considering the u.S.A. Justified in waging war against spain (it is a most unholy war) but our god can make the wrath of man to praise him, and i believe he will. There is much that i could tell you about this field but i would rather see you face to face when i come. Mr. Lund, who has done and is doing such excellent work in the n.E. Of spain was in london last june but only for three days. What a pity you did not meet him, he is the most successful worker in any r spanish speaking country. I wish that the m.P.A.
