While the 'official' origin story of the earth's best-known Green Lantern, Hal Jordan, is widely known . . far fewer know that the 'other' Green Lantern of Earth preceded him by decades . . and was an ACTUAL GREEN LANTERN!This cachet for the 2006 pair of stamps honoring Green Lantern Hal Jordan is a handcolored depiction of the space alien K'ohlmaan, who crashed to earth in 1922 right into a railroad conductor's lantern, and took its shape. He battled crime with his alien-powered ring for 35 years before Hal Jordan took over his duties!
This revealing FDC is franked with the two Green Lantern singles from the DC Superheroes pane of 20 from 2006 - one showing a portrait of Hal Jordan recharging his ring at his power battery, the other featuring the cover of one of the earliest comic books to chronicle his adventures - and are cancelled with a Digital Color Postmark.
The reverse shows that this is cover #8 of only 8 made.
Sadly, K'ohlmaan's brave and heroic deeds never received their due in a comic book -- but you can honor his memory by adding this FDC to your collection and giving this brave appliance his due!
