Item Description

Vintage cover bearing two Vienna-printed provisional stamps of the Republic of Indonesia, postmarked Djakarta, 11.11.49. These stamps were privately printed in Vienna, Austria and distributed through international dealers to promote Indonesian sovereignty prior to official independence (recognized on 27 December 1949). Used about 6 weeks before formal independence.
