Item Description

The souvenir sheet for the 1957 Tabil was on display at the Israel National Philatelic Exhibition. TA large square stamp within the souvenr sheet should have been perforated into 4 sections, with the intact, larger stamp decorated with zodiac constellations. Each section had a face value of 100-400. However, because of a printing error that affected almost all the Tabil stamps, perforations were NOT made: the main stamp cannot easily divided into 4 sections, and the main stamp had to be cut with scissors for removal from the stamp roll.

The front of the FDC envelope has the Tabil main stamp, the running impala logo of the Israel Postal Service, the FDC hexagon, and two cancellation stamps fromt he Tel Aviv-Yafo post office. The envelope has been sealed shut.

The envelope is approximately 6.5 x 5.0"; the stamp is approximately 4.0 x 4.0."

There is slight damage to the top front of the FDC envelope, above the Tabil stamp; the paper is slightly roughened for unknown reasons.
