Italy (1944) A used postage stamp from the period of the Italian Social Republic (PSR), which existed between 1943 and 1945. The stamp has a face value of 50 cents and depicts Benito Mussolini.The inscription "REPUBBLICA SOCIALE ITALIANA" (Italian Social Republic) is printed in red on the stamp.
The stamps from this period were used as a propaganda tool for the regime. Despite the collapse of the Italian Social Republic, these stamps continued to be used in Northern Italy due to delays in the delivery of new stamps from Rome. (Mi # 644)
