Dec 10 1897 Morant Bay cancel .Jamaica was the first British Colony to operate a Post Office in 1671 and had the most unruly bunch of postmasters on record .Once they even refused the Crowns appointed Post Master General.
This UNIQUE PIECE of Jamaican postal history highlights the operation of some Postal Agencies right after the capital moved from spanish Town to Kingston in 1872 . The bisect was authorized from Nov 20,1861 --Dec 1 1872 ...but was used well outside that period.
