Item Description
This Air Mail cover was mailed from Lae, Papua New Guinea to Freeport, Illinois in 1964 and was franked by an 8d green Port Moresby Harbor and Ships issue of 1961, Scott 157, and a 2/5 Carved Head at top of Shield issue of 1964, Scott 179, both tied by a Lae, PNG circular date stamp. Lae is an airfield in Morobe Province built for World War II and afterwards a civilian airport that closed in the 1980's.Cut open right so barely reduced (see scan), the backflap is sealed and intact. No contents or backstamps.
Light horizontal or vertical lines in the images are scanner artifact !
