This 2-cent red George Washington Government Stamped Envelope issue of 1883, Scott U231, was mailed from Mauch Chunk, Pennsylvania to Philadelphia, Pennsylvania in 1884 and was cancelled by a duplex with a solid circular killer.

the Corner Card Reads:

'Return to
Carbon Lodge, No. 242, F. & A.M.,
Mauch Chunk, Pa.,
If not delivered within 5 days.'

Slit open top, the backflap is sealed and missing one end (along with the corresponding section of the envelope's back)(see scan). No contents. Philly receiving cds verso.
