Item Description

This is one of those must have modern error sheets for U.S. collectors. The United States Postal Service featured the incorrect image of Bill Pickett and caught the error only after a few sheets were sold to the public. USPS, in an effort to avoid creating a major error value, conducted a lottery offering 150,000 of the sheets up to collectors. The sheets, unlike the corrected replacements, were distributed in a blue sealed folded with the clear image of the face and reverse of the sheet being visible.

Most, if not all stamps (especially 19th Century issues) listed are dipped and checked for faults, and reviewed under a digital microscope and a high-powered UV light to verify no gum stamps are mint and not just "washed." Also, have a handy, extensive philatelic reference library. If there is something in question, a friend/colleague who certifies U.S. material for the Philatelic Foundation, APS, and PSAG, and will proffer his opinion, too.
