Buy Canadian. The exchange rate for all major currencies is currently very attractive. The New Zealand Government's Life Insurance Department provided life insurance services until December 1989. The service was then privatized as The Tower corporation. Payment of premiums was by purchase of stamps.
This offering, SG L42-44 and L46-49 (seven stamps), was the set of insurance stamps as originally issued on 1 August 1947. L45, the 2½d denomination, subsequently issued on 4 November 1963, is not included. The stamps come from a hinged collection and several are extremely lightly hinged.
This was the first set of pictorial stamps, featuring New Zealand lighthouses, to be issued issued by the insurance department.
