Item Description
The KIWIs of New Zealand (as they proudly call themselves) have an outsized array of accomplishments for as small a small nation as they are. In 1997 New Zealand Post did a little bragging with a set of four cartoon stamps showing in a humorous fashion how New Zealanders have made a name for themselves in different competitions.This handcolored FDC bears three of those stamps, referencing achievements in Stock Car Racing, Large Breakfasts and Sailing Competitions (at least I think that's what they're trying to get across!)
The handcolored cachet shows a New Zealand Kiwi confidently putting up his dukes in a boxing match with a rather taken aback world! The stamps are tied with a nice cancel of the official First Day of Issue cancel of November 12, 1997, with a caricatured kiwi emerging from the word 'cartoonists'.
The reverse shows that this is cover #1 of only 4 covers sent to New Zealand for servicing!
You don't need to take on the world to add this cover to your collection -- just the other bidders!
