NORWAY: POSTAGE DUE Meter Stamp; OSLO PORTO ISSUE, (INTERNATIONAL METER CATALOG #PD3), struck in Blue on reverse of 1953 cover, originally franked with 30ore Haakon stamp, tied by 12.14.1953 Julepost slogan cancel, RATED "60" FOR DUE, local address, appears to be business mail rather than actually carrying a Christmas card, postage due was added on reverse, MOST UNCOMMON, Fine-VF.   

THESE meter machines in the main Post Offices of OSLO OR BERGEN (also used IN DENMARK) were IMPLEMENTED TO COLLECT POSTAGE DUE during the BUSY CHRISTMAS SEASON, though at times were USED OUTSIDE OF THE SEASON. This machine was made by KRAG. THE COVER IS OPEN THREE SIDES IF YOU WANTED TO DISPLAY IT THAT WAY.
