Five tuxedoed penguins attend the signing ceremony of the Antarctic Treaty on this FDC celebrating the 30th anniversary of the agreement signed by 12 nations to prevent militarization of the continent. Hopefully the ink didn't freeze before all the penguins had signed!The cachet was printed in black and 'Frostbite Blue' inks, and hand-tinted with a bit of red to pick up the color of the small ship on the stamp.
