Historical Context:
These stamps were issued during the reign of King Luís I, shortly after the death of King Pedro V. The 80 réis denomination was widely used in national and colonial mail. The embossed portrait reflects 19th-century production techniques, and numeral cancels identified the place of origin—“1” signifying Lisbon, the capital and hub of postal activity in Portugal at the time.

Condition:
One stamp is lightly hinged with original gum, showing great preservation. The second is postally used with a clear, well-struck numeral cancel "1" in diamond pattern. Both retain strong embossing and color. Minor typical aging signs may be present, as shown in the scans.

Collector's Note:
A fine duo for specialists in Portuguese classics or 19th-century European philately. Stamps with intact embossing and recognizable Lisbon cancels are increasingly scarce. This set offers both presentation and historical postal value.
