Item Description
Back when the USPS was willing to pay licensing rights to the International Olympics Committee, they issued this $2.90 Priority Mail stamp that featured the Olympic Rings.They don't play that game any more!
This FDC features a handcolored cachet of a bald eagle showing off his Olympic T-shirt while competing in the 50-Yard Mail Delivery Dash.
The cover is franked with a Plate Number Single cancelled with the FDoI pictorial postmark that was available on site at the First Day of Issue ceremony in San Diego ( which was the very first FDoI ceremony that my dad and I attended together!)
