FDC produced for the 37c Gunnery Sergeant "Manila John" Basilone stamp, one of the 37c Distinguished Marines stamps issued in Washington, DC, and Camp Pendleton, California, on November 10, 2005 (Sc. 3963). Multicolored cachet produced by Thrifty Photo Cachets, featuring Sgt. Basilone carrying a machine gun, plus some informative text. Sgt. Basilone single-handedly wiped out a company of Japanese troops trying to overrun his position on Guadalcanal. He was the only Marine to receive both the Medal of Honor and the Navy Cross.
