This auction is for a Scarce MINT NEVER HINGED SET of 7 Fine-Very Fine Coil Pairs (ALL DIFFERENT) of Scott # 1303a, the 4c Lincoln horizontal coil definitive from the Prominent Americans series. ALL are untagged, and are precanceled as follows:"SAN DIEGO CALIF."-----Type 71"MIAMI FLA."-------------Type 71"BALTIMORE MD."-------Type 71"DAYTON OHIO"----------Type 71"PHILADELPHIA PA."----Type 71"PITTSBURGH PA."------Type 71"DALLAS TEXAS"---------Type 71The fifth edition of the Precancel Stamp Society Catalog of United States Bureau Precancels states: "Some collectors collect bureau precancels with gum. This is particularly challenging for issues before August 1967. Previously, sale of precancels to collectors was prohibited, and most dealers in bureaus soaked off the gum to avoid the appearance of violating postal regulations. As a result, there can be a large premium for full gum bureau issues, especially for issues prior to 1967".The pairs are in excellent condition. There are no faults. The 2022 Scott catalogue value for these MNH pairs in the grade of VF are $133.00 ($19 per pair).It is very uncommon to find these stamps with mint never hinged gum.
